Dual split question

Hi experts 

With regarding to a dual split for a SAP ERP system, the new Java system can be on the same hardware?

the Answer to your question depend upon following questions

1. what is  size of the database

2. what is your current concurrent users in system on average

3. what is your hardware capacity .

if hardware is not enough to accumulate current load then use seperate host .

it is totaly upto basis what should be done on the basis of past performance analysis

You can considere as another portal system. It depends on your h/w capacity. If you have sufficient CPU and memory you can install on the same host. Please consider the following points before installaling into the same host :

1. Future upgrade plan - In case of parallel upgrade ABAP and Java will create separate shdow instances - so you need more memory and CPU.

2. If you are using ESS/MSS or heavy portal uses - please use separate host

3. For light uses - you can go with same host.
