Creating some new dimension/measure out of a specific dataset

Hi all,

I think this is a very basic question, but I do not see the tree in the woods.

I got this set uploaded with excel

CountryTypYear 2005Year 2010
USAA100200
USAB110214
USAC200312
GermanyA50190
GermanyB7050
GermanyC11870

What I want to do is to create a new measure that contains the SUM and the average of this set. The specific thing is I just want it for the types (A, B and C).

That means my result should look in the end like this:

SUMYear 2005Year 2010
TYP A150390
TYP B180264
TYP C318382
Year 2005 (already possible)648
Year 2010 (already possible)1036

Is this possible or do I need to rearrange the table itself so I got for each specific typ an own column?

Hi Florian,

I scratched my head around your example the other day and produced the attached .lums. I used calculated dimensions converted into measures to achieve what you would expect. Is it corresponding to what you would like to do?

Thanks & regards,

On a side note, there are interesting calculations best practices here: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-57734

Here is the .lums. You have to rename the extension from .txt to .lums.

Thank you Antoine,

that's exact what I wanted to do. Together with the BP-Guide I found a way.

Again, thank you for your great support and have a nice day.
