Replace Asset Class for Existing Assets

Former Member

Hi,

I have configured a new asset class.  However, we would like to reconfigure the asset class of the existing assets to reflect the newly created asset class.  May I know if I can replace the asset class of the existing assets?

Please advise. Thanks a lot.

Hi,

Please use transaction code ABUMN and transfer values.

Hope this solves your issue else revert.

Hi,

You can do it. Please use transaction code ABUMN for transferring the values to new asset class.

Thank you for your reply.

Here's the scenario:

Asset X - Capitalized 07/01/2014 per asset class LAB-EQ amounting to 100,000.

**LAB-EQ has a useful life of 4 years (straight line).

I have configured LAB-EQ02 which has a useful life of 2 years only (straight line).  I want to transfer said asset to this asset class (LAB-EQ02) with depreciation recomputed at 2 years since 07/01/2014. Could this be possible?

At the same time, In ABUMN, there are three dates:

Document Date

Posting Date

Asset Value Date

What should be indicated on these dates?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Before you post transaction the period should be open in OB52. Then after, you can provide the date as 07/01/2014 for document date & posting date in ABUMN. If you want to calculate depreciation from 7/1/2014 onwards then provide it in the value date field. Else provide the other date in the value date.
