Hello People

I have a problem with the installation of packets in my system BW in the stack to java.

The tool JSPM this not working and I opened a message in support sap and they comment that tool for packages update, is  changed per SUM "Software Update Manager"

I don't have idea of how install this tool or how use this tool.

Someone has the how to for the installation  this tool.

Everyone pretty much touched on the SUM tool.

My only question. Is the BW java only? Or dual stack? If so, did you already patch the ABAP stack using SPAM/SAINT? If so, SUM will complain, you would need to start it with a -javaonly switch so it wont generate errors about the ABAP stack.

Hello colleagues,

of course the usage of SUM is documented, so read the documentation:

Would just like to add another point here...

When runing on LINUX flavour OS you would be using X Desktop or similar kind of tool for UI purpose.

If so, when running ./STARTUP sometime you may find the SUM tool is stuck at

"SL Controller started." phase

In this case you need to open a new session and navigate to

$ cd SUM/sdt/exe

and run

$ ./DSUGui

This will open the SUM UI screen for you.

Keep on SUMing.

Prithviraj.

Not really. After starting the STARTUP script (background) as sidadm user You can access the SUM GUI using the browser with the link http://hostname:4239

Download the SUM based on the OS from

https://service.sap.com/sltoolset - Software Logistics Toolset 1.0 - Software Update Manager 1.0 SP11 download (SUM)

Extract the archive and to start the SUM run the STARTUP script present in the SUM directory.

Hi Marco,

You need to read below section

Using the Software Update Manager (SUM) - SAP NetWeaver Identity Management REST Interface Version 2...

For guides and documents

refer -

Starting the Software Update Manager GUI - SAP NetWeaver Identity Management REST Interface Version ...

Once you download the SUM, just uncar it and use above guide to start and run.

Hi,

  1. Download the latest -n version of SUM from SAP Market Place.
  2. Uncar the SUM files, it will create a directory called SUM
  3. Assign full permissions to SUM directory
  4. Go into that directory, if you are using Unix Operating System, then enter the following command in the SUM directory
  5. STARTUP & and  hit enter Key to execute this command.
  6. Put the  Java/.SCA files into a saparate folder, and when SUM prompts to enter the .XML file path, select Manual and provide the path where you have stored the .SCA files.

The JSPM is also no longer supported for NW 7.31.  This  has been replaced with SUM.  Please see note. 1589311.

Hope this helps.
