BPC Cubes Backup

Hello,

We are in the process of decommisioning the BPC application/servers.

The version of BPC we use is SAP BPC MS 7.0.

Is there a way to backup the entire appsets (all the cubes) including security, reports, templates, Hierarchy Info, Data and all the other BPC objects?

Next is how do we go ahead with the restoration process?

I am aware that export from fact will export the level zero data in text file format or we can take a backup of data directly from the fact tables.

In Hyperion, perhaps there is a functionality by which we can backup the application and data both and can restore it at a later point of time. We are looking for a similar process with BPC.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Thanks and Regards,

S

Hi Sabbu,

In Hyperion, perhaps there is a functionality by which we can backup the application and data both and can restore it at a later point of time. We are looking for a similar process with BPC.

if you mean that you want restore it again in the future from BPC you can usa backup and restore in BPC Server Manager, this will bakup the entire environment (not only DB but excel report, packages, stored proc, etc).

Otherwise if you're interested only on DB you can use the backup-restore inside SSMS, (the complete folder, with template and packages you have to do it manually or you have to use an external sw.

Hi Sabbu,

"To migrate environments from 7.0 or 7.5 (including any support package), you first need to create a backup of all the environments that you wish to migrate" extract from the upgrade guide read it carefully also for supporting of the different SQL versions.
