Dear all,
I would like to understand the SAP logic to assgin the supply area in the planned order BOM
I've seen the following answer about the storage location determination but is it the same logic used for the supply area ?
The issuing storage location is determined in three steps in the production order:
o First, the issue storage location of the material to be issued
(MARC-LGPRO) is transferred to the material master from the MRP
data if it is filled.
o The system overwrites this value with the issue storage location
from the bill of material (RC29P-LGORT, STPO-LGORT) if it is
filled.
o If the operation to which the component is assigned in production
order contains a work center with supply area, the storage
location is transferred from this supply area (PVBE-LGORT).
However, this transfer is only carried out if storage location
data (MARD) is maintained for this storage location for the
material.
Note 137225 provides more details about the storage location determination.
Thanks for your help

Hi Greg
Note 137225 talks about production orders, not planned orders.
For planned orders, see the following WIKI:
PP-MRP supply area in the planned order. - ERP Operations - SCN Wiki

Hello Caetano,
I did the following tests:
- On each work center a supply area is assigned.
- The component allocation is performed, so we should know for each component the supply area where they will be delivered.
We run MRP with parameter Scheduling set with the value "2".
Planned orders are created with BOM and Det scheduling information.
Unfortunately, the supply area is assigned in the BOM only if the supply area information is done either in the BOM or in Material Master.
But in my case I would like the system to take it from the work center : All data are available
This to be used for the kanban calculation.
Am I wrong ? did I forget a set up ?
Many thanks in advance for your answer,
Best regards
Grégory
Hello,
Does anyone can help me ?
We have for one material, several supply area deliveries.
If we run the SAP kanban calculation transaction, we need to have the right supply area assigned.
So probably, we forgot something in customizing or master data maintenance.
If someone had already this issue and fixed it, you are welcome 🙂
Many thanks
Greg
Hi Greg
First, make sure that the following note is implemented on your system:
1966120 - Production Supply Area does not get populated for BOM components
This is a very recent note for a program error that affects the supply area determination on planned orders.
You should also consider that the supply area determination for planned orders is different than the supply area determination for production orders.
The supply area should be defined on the material master tab MRP 2 and it is determined according to the logic from the customizing transaction OSPK.

Hello Caetano,
We have implemented the OSS note but unfortunatly, the supply area is not populated in the planned order as we would like.
We have a component A which is consummed in 2 different work centers.
In the routings, we did the component allocation to assign this component to the correct operations -> so to the correct work center where it will be consummed.
So in this case, the supply area assigned to the work center should be populated in the planned order.
Am I wrong ?
Thanks in advance for your help
