zamm phy_mem calculation

Hi all,

We are on  redhat  linux 6  -64 bit servers and planning to move to ZAMM .

We have 30 Gb ram and 60 gb SWAP... for the ZAMM configuration PHYS_MEMSIZE need to set as per the RAM.

what are the factors we need to take in to for setting PHYS_MEMSIZE?.

I went thru couple of docs  and found we can reserver 10% to OS  and 5 % to SMD/Host agents and 5% to other third party agents.. do we need to consider the buffer parameters size also in to that ?

As per SAP buffers stored in shared memory and  shared memory pool like 10,20 &40  .

RAM + SWAP = Virtual memory

shared+local memory  are part of Virtual  memory which can be either RAM or SWAP.

Can we conclude  buffers are  to be considered as a factor to calculate PHYS_MEMSIZE?

The defualt values for Heap dia and heap total is given as 2 Gb , what happen if heap dia is full does it extend ?

Please suggest...

Leave memory for OS and use it all as your PHYS_MEMSIZE parameter

suppose you have 16 GB memory on server and OS windows I will give 12 GB to PHYS_MEMSIZE

Note: If database on same server leave some momory for DB too
