SAP Definition:

Using a simulation version, you can run through a planning alternative without changing the data in the planning version. You can test different planning alternatives using different simulation versions.

You can compare the planning status in the planning version with that in the planning version at any time ("refresh"), or import simulative planning in the planning version ("save"). The planning data in the planning or simulation version is not simply copied in this case, but actually merged. "Hard" data "wins", for example, confirmation of an operation is more important than a deadline change.

Yes they can be deleted manually.

They can follow any naming convention, for details about use of simulation versions, you can refer to below sap note.

Hi Virender,

To understand the simulation versions, please find below the concept of model and version maintenance in APO:

The model in APO represents the complete supply chain. The master data transferred from ECC is automatically assigned to active (000) model. A version is then uniquely assigned to the model which manages the transaction data for the master data of that model. The version which exchanges data with R/3 is called active version 000, assigned to active model 000.

For simulation purpose, multiple versions can be created and assigned to the model. Using version management you can copy model/versions and create them manually.

Hi Virender,

It is a general question, so I am not sure how much you know about simulation versions and what are your doubts.

Simulation versions allow to save your those changes done in your planning board without releasing the changes in your active version. You can read the SAP help about simulation versions:

Adopting or Saving a Simulation Version - Detailed Scheduling Topics - SAP Library

There is also a Consulting SAP Note that explains an interesting aspect about what is saved and what it is not:

600841
- Features of a saved simulation version

Hope this helps,

Kind Regards,

Hi Virender,

You can create n-number of versions similar to your active version and can be created / managed using TCode: MVM (Model Version Management).

For example you can create a SIM version and plan (while testing) and copy data between versions using TSCOPY. You can plan in SIM Version and can copy the results to LIVE Version. Pl note the CVCs are independent of version.

The more number of versions will exponentially increase the usage of memory in Live Cache.
