Fiori CRM apps with central hub deployment

Hello Experts,

We are looking to configure Fiori CRM apps in our landscape with central hub deployment option. Our CRM backend and frontend server (Gateway) are 2 separate systems.

The CRM backend system (CRM 7.0 EHP3) is running NW 7.4 whereas the frontend server where we have installed the Gateway component is running NW 7.31. Can we go ahead and install the CRM UI components on our frontend server or is it mandatory that the frontend server also runs NW 7.4?

Regards,

Saurabh

Hi Sauragh,

Please look at the install guide in help.sap.com.

Hi Masa,

The link you mentioned gives details about the required SAP Gateway Components for NetWeaver 7.3 & 7.4, but does not mention anywhere whether the NetWeaver version of the backend business suite system should necessarily be NW7.4 if we have front-end system on NW7.4.

I am looking to clarify the doubt regarding whether both front-end and back-end systems should be on the same NetWeaver release or it is fine to have front-end on 7.31 and back-end on 7.4

Regards,

Saurabh

Hi Saurabh,

Frontend and backend servers can be different NetWeaver release.

What was the reason you have newly installed Gateway on 731 and not 740?

740 is easy to maintain components because Gateway and UI add-on are installed as default and applying Support Packages is less effort.

Thanks for your response Masa.

We were already having a 731 system where gateway add-ons were installed and were thinking of using it as a front end server for Central hub deployment with a new 740 system as a CRM back end system.

I just wanted to ensure that having front end server on 740 is not mandatory, but yes as you say maintenance would be easier if both systems are on same Netweaver release.

Saurabh

Hi Saurabh,

From NetWeaver 740 release, Gateway(SAP_GWFND) and UI add-on (SAP_UI) are installed as default in a part of 740. You can manage Support Package Stack for NetWever 740 level and do not need to maintain each Gateway and UI components level.

Thanks Masa!!

I think we can go ahead with implementing the CRM Fiori apps with this info.
