HCM errors in phase Identify Objects for Transfer and Start Data Selection.

Hello Colleagues ,

Background: We are using TDMS HCM PA PD Expert package to transfer all of the HCM data

We are using TDMS 4.0 SP 5. We are trying to do the Configuraition in Identify Objects for Transfer and Start Data Selection.. In this phase, we are encountering the issue of 'choose to confirm to trigger data selection'.  The only option in this activit is'confirm batch' and 'confirm online'. Even if we press the button, we are still encountering issues. What selections then or values can we use?Thank you. Kindly see screen shot

Hello Meinard,

You could check the following:

1. Are the objects specified by you existing in the system? For example, you choose to select object Type O ID 00001000, but the object does not exist in the system. You can check all the objects except P and CP in the table HRP1000 and check if the object exists.

2. If you are using a selection ID, ensure the selection ID has objects.

3. Do you have authorization to select the objects mentioned in the selection? These are HCM authorizations.

4. Have you maintained the Target range for your user correctly? For the user performing the selection, entries must be maintained in the view V_CNVHCM_TARGETS in the control system.

If we set the target range to select all, do we need to use a selection ID?

Hello Meinard,

Selection ID is not valid for a PA PD expert package. Also Target Range only specifies the target range in which you want to transfer the data. It does not specify the data you are selecting.

For example: You want to transfer employee 1000, it must be between your target range. If your target range is 1 to 100, you cannot transfer this employee.

Hello Meinard,

There could be two issues:

First check if you have assigned the target ranges for the dialog user which you are using to select data from sender system. You need to maintain target ranges in activity 'Define target ranges for users' which you can find under activity "Configuration and Utilities in Control system".

Secondly, there could be authorizaton issues for the sender system user. Check for any authorization issue in SU53 in sender system for the user which you used to logon to sender system.

We basically want to copy all existing data. We set the target range as below screenshot. Is this the correct settings?

Hello Meinard,

If you want to transfer all data then for plan version 01 you can maintain the object type as *, for object type P and CP you have already maintained as required. Selection should work for object types which you have maintained, it seems there is some other issue, did you check for the authorization issue in sender system for user ALEE6MTDMS ?

Thanks for the reply. For the authorization issue, there are no authorization issues in log. But here is the issue we are encountering in the logs. kindly see new attached. Some tables will not be transferred.

As higlighted in the red color issue is with target ranges. Delete the previous entries and make the entries for sender system dialog user for object types and plan version as shown in the screen shot below:

Yes indeed i have checked same entries were assigned for dialog user maintained in the tdms. this is ALEE6MTDMS.  However, there are other users that are maintained in this table. Should we delete them all first in the table entries and just let these 3 entries as per your screenshot be maintained? (we wil back up first the table) . Thank you Anita.

No need to delete other users, just maintain the entries for ALEE6MTDMS as per screen shot.

Hello Anita,

We have maintained the correct entry now. Still, same error occurs. But other than this and authorizations, are there any config that needs to be checked? But according to the error log it should be these entries it is reading. Do we need to activate something in order for it to be read?

Have you checked the check box use selected PA data under PA selection tab and use selected PD data under PD selecion tab ? I have attached the screen shot of check box which i am talking about.

What was the result of activity "Check authorisation for data selection" under 'configuration and utilities in sender system' ?

If above mentioned both these are ok then you need to raise an OSS meesage in component

Thank you for your solution. OSS message was answered by SAP as well and they added a line in these entries. Thanks. But before I close the thread, we are now at data transfer phase. ANd it has been already an hour running. But the tables are still not being populated. Is there a way to check if the transfer is really processing? The job CNV_MBTCNV_MBT_PEM_START is running in control system but in the receiver system, there are no tdms work process running. is this hanging or is there a way to check if tables are really processed?
