Hot to clear Syslog form SAPMMC and Backup History file from DB Manager

Hi everybody, this is my first post and I hope that this is the right session.

I have installed SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP Trial Version (incl. Web Dynpro ABAP) and now I am trying to understand how to clear some information.

1) how can I clear syslog from SAP MMC?

2) How can I clear Backup History files from Data Base Manager (MaxDB)?

I know that this information are stored in files at the operating system level:

dbm.knl and dbm.mdf.

Can I delete or edit this files to keep some information or is there a better procedure?

Hi

Steps to take backup from DB manager

1.Go to DB manager connect ur instance

2.Left side you have a backup tab click it

3.Three options will be displayed go to backup wizard

4.All the instructions are given there just need to follow them

5.You can check the backup going to backup history tab

6.If you have any problem anywhere feel free to ask

Hi Rajat, thank you for your reply but my question was not related to "how to perform a backup" but to "how to clear informations from the backup history" and to "how to clear information from syslog in SAP MMC".

1) how can I clear syslog from SAP MMC?

Hi,

Go to configuration->backup medium in the database manager. There you can see the list of backup you vahe taken. select the right one and right click on it and then delete.

do reward suitable points.

Hi, thank you for your reply but under "configuration>backup medium" I don't see the list of backup taken but only the properties of medium backup created by me.

One for complete backup and one for log backups.

Any clue?

Hi,

If you right click on it you get the option to delete it. You must be getting some entries atleast. Right click on any one of the entries.

No way, if I right click the backup medium I have the option to delete it or to create a new one, wich is not what I want.

I just need to clear the history file.

Hi,

For Backup History try removing the files dbm.knl, dbm.mdf and dbm.ebf (last one may not exist) .

Plz take a backup before doing so.
