SMP 3.0 Installation

Hi Guru's,

I am trying to Install the SMP 3.0 in my system, and in that i am able to install both the Developer and the Production version of SMP installation in same system, in that i need to select the differnet folder? is it possible to install both the environment in the Same system?

Kindly advice me to complete my action.

Technically speaking you should have two separate machines : one for DEV and one for PROD.

I don't think you can install both dev & prod on same machine, in fact you will not be allowed to install other one if you have installed first.

Thanks for your reply, if i goahead and install the DEV instance of SMP would i be able to connect 2 backend system DEV & QA SAP CRM/ECC system

please confirm

Hi Thiyagarajan,

You can very much connect to any number of backend systems.

Note: Generally it is recommended to have a separate SMP server for each backend system.

{(SMP Dev, SAP DEV backend),

(SMP QA, SAP QA backend)

(SMP Prod, SAP Prod backend)}

QA/pre-prod server is a replica of PROD system.

As SMP 3.0 is based on OData, you have to convert all backend services into OData services. You may have look at this document.
