HANA SPS08 install error - import of delivery units failed

When I install HANA SPS08 on SUSE Linux, I always get this 'Import of delivery units failed  Cannot import delivery unit /usr/sap/HND/global/hdb/auto_content/HANA_UI_INTEGRATION_SVC.tgz' error. The failed delivery unit may be different each time, like: HANA_DT_BASE.tgz. Please help me to deal with this error, I already tried many times.

Hi Li,

I had similar error when I try to install SAP HANA SPS8.

I tried couple of times but each time had same error.

something working with Import of delivery units on SPS8 install.

so I did install with out Import of delivery units.

if you need to install SPS8 please using this:

./hdblcm --action=install --hdbinst_server_import_content=off

or

./hdblcmgui --action=install --hdbinst_server_import_content=off

and let me know if you found the way to install SPS8 successfully.

Ravi,

If we skip the import of Delivery Units, I guess we have to import them using HANA Studio after the HANA SP08 installation is completed.

Have you tried it?

Hi Srikanth,

yes i did install SAP HANA SPS8 and upgraded to Revision 81with out importing Delivery Units.

it is working fine.

and SPS82 SAP HANA DVD is available in SMP.

Yes looks like DVD 82 is now available and I can see the date stamp of today,

when I checked Yesterday it was only 80 available.

Revision 82 still has the problem with the import of the delivery units:

This was on a fresh install.

This problem exists on all revisions >= 80. As far as i know that's when it started.

My updates:

I have used hdbinst, I didn't had any issues using Version 80 and 82 as well,

during the import of the Delivery Units, the DB resident memory utilization was at peak,

Preferably from now on I will use the hdbinst rather than hdblcmgui.

At least I don't have to skip any Delivery Unit import.

This is a known error in 80's version,sometimes I get it & few times not..

Just go out of the installer & tried it..It worked

Revision 82 is now out. Do you still get this problem with that revision? I had a few problems on 80 too.

Is there any hana installation package with Version 82?

I assume that we can download version 80 to install and apply database revision 82 to SPS 80.

No, HANA installations/upgrades are cumulative. You can install or upgrade from and to almost any version. Go directly to Rev.82.

you cannot install directly Revision 82.

current installation DVD available for :SPS53, SPS6, SPS73 SPS8.

install anyone of the SPS then upgrade to Revision 82.

Sorry Ravindar but that's incorrect. Please reference SAP Note 2000003 - FAQ: SAP HANA.

23. Can SAP HANA always be upgraded directly, even if there is a significant
gap between the source and the target level?

In general SAP HANA can be upgraded from any source level to any target level
without an intermediate step. Exceptions are:

• Source level with SPS2 or below
• Exceptions mentioned explicitely in the related SAP Note (e.g. SAP Note 2020199: rev.64 to rev.66
  when upgrading to SPS8)

we can upgrade to any Revision once we install the SAP HANA Server.

but to install we have to use only SAP HANA DVD which are available in SMP.

install SAP HANA Server using bellow DVD then we can upgrade to required Revision
