Currently our OS team is setting the Fully qualified domain name for server.

So i have query that does hgcnet.abc-def.com domain name is allowd for SAP netweaver 7.31 Installation?

hgcnet is host name and domain name is abc-def.com, so - (hypen) is allowed for installatio??

Kindly suggest,

Hi,

For setup FQDN i have to follow the procedure below...?

1. DNS (What should we have to check??)

2. Set the FQDN in host file........

     192.168.1.8     devers.abc-edf.com

Does this effects on ECC and another SAP instance which is on same host? because previously ECC is installed with following host entry only...

     192.168.1.8     devers

3. Following three parameters we have to set.....

SAPLOCALHOST

SAPLOCALHOSTFULL

icm/host_name_full

Correct me if i am wrong...

In hostfile

It's like

Ip   fqdn  hostname

I believe that should work if maintained correctly.

Ping your fqdn and check the ip returned.

The errors that you are getting, share that too.

Make sure you have maintained them in correct profiles.

check this thread for reference:

Hi,

We have successfully installed the NW7.31 with FQDN "hgcnet.abc-def.com"..

Now my next issue is, we need to integrate the ECC server into the NW7.31 portal, for that purpose we need the FQDN of the ECC server, but actually ECC server was installed with only host name not domain name.

So now we have assign the FQDN to already installed ECC server, how should I proceed?

Kindly suggest,

By adding the FQDN does it effects on already installed SAP server?? or does effects on another instance which is on the same server??

As per my knowledge we have to set the following profile parameters in instance profile...

SAPLOCALHOST

SAPLOCALHOSTFULL

I have added above parameters in instance profile, but after restart of the SAP, server is not accessible.

Hi Amit,

As far as I know, there is no restriction for '-' on domain name.

Best example is - "websmp130.sap-ag.de"

The restriction you are asking is for domain name not host name, So all is fine as far as I have read and seen.
