Hi All
What is the difference between RFC destination and port ? Why both ?
Can i run the scenario with out these ? (Idoc to file/file to idoc/idoc to idoc)
Adv...thanks and regards
Rakesh
Rakesh,
RFC destinations are used to post Idoc to the target system ( XI or SAP ) while Ports are the means in whichthe Idoc metadata is pulled from the Source System for validation etc.
You will need to have both a port and a RFC destination to poast an Idoc from XI or from an SAP system to XI.

HI,
The connected systems generate the corresponding IDocs in the applications and send them to the new tRFC port. The RFC destination of this port addresses the Integration Server.
Here is the RFC destination will be destination of port and through the port RFC connection will be established to transfer the metadata.
Both are must ,when we are communicating R3 to transfer the IDoc from r3 toXi , Xi to R3.
