IDocs have disappeared between ECC and PI

Hi All,

A couple of days ago 3 idocs went missing between ECC and PI.

That day 293 idocs of the same message type were sent to the same partner through PI. In PI we only found 290. The 3 IDocs were sent in the same second in the early afternoon. All IDocs before and after were processed correctly.

The IDocs are unknown in IDX5 and in Runtime Workbench on PI.

The idocs were not in SM58.

I found them in WE05, with the correct status. The status update from status = 01 to 30 to 03 took place in the same second.

25 seconds later, new IDocs of the same message type were created and processed successfully by PI.

At the time the idocs disappeared there were no problems with either ECC or PI, as far as we know.

The interface is live for more than 2 years. In the meantime no changes have taken place.

I have read the links below

It's a mystery to me. Where have those idocs gone?

Anybody any idea?

Kind Regards

Edmond Paulussen

Hi,

SAP recommended to inplement SAP Note 1019510: tRFC executed before the update

Since we cannot reproduce the issue we hope that this solves the problem.

Hi Edmond,

You can see the 3 idocs in ECC right? Then use the Idoc number and search for them in IDX5. You can see the Transaction Id in the Details section of the control record as well. You can use that to search as well.

Hope it helps!

Perhaps check the history of your IDOC Port / RFC Destination during that time, could it have been temporarily changed (like by accident and put back)?

Hi Aaron

That seems the only plausible explanation until now.

I compared all the IDocs that left ECC system with the ones that arrived in PI.

If someone had changed the RFC dest of the IDoc port, it must have been during less than 1 minute.

Unfortunately there is no history of the changes.

Hi Aaron,

Do you know if the logging of changes can be activated for tx WE21?

Hi Edmond,

On the SAP PI system have a look in transaction IDX5. Take the IDoc number that you could not find in PI and search them in IDX5.

If you cannot find those IDoc in IDX5 then they never reached PI.

Hi,

Tx for the reply.

I have searched using IDX5. I have also searched using runtime workbench. Both without result.

So the idocs are not in PI.

But on ECC side they have status 03, SM58 is empty. Where are they?????

Kind Regards

No problem.

Sure it could not just have disappeared. Would it be possible for you to maybe resend on of them using WE19?

You also checked all the queue etc correct?

Hi Admond,

1. Check SM58 logs in ECC

2. Check ST22 for any dumps in ECC

3. Check queues in ECC

4. Check the inbound queues in ECC.

Thanks,

Satish.

Hi,

Tx for the reply.

Packaging is not used for those idocs.

Also the status for those 3 idocs was updated from 01 to 30 to 03 within the same second.

Kind Regards

Edmond

Hi,

Tx for the reply.

I have checked things. All OK or empty.

And remember that those idocs have status 03.

Hi Edmond,

In ECC, execute program RSEOUT00 and provide the IDOC No's in the selection screen and execute

Please try and check whether the IDOC's are processed to PI or not.

Hope this helps you to fix the issue.

Hi,

That doesn't work for IDocs that have already status 03. It does if they are still in status 30.
