Database Instance is disappeared in SAPMMC

Former Member

Dear All,

I have changed some profile parameters in RZ10 and performed a server restart. After restart, the database instance of ABAP system is disappeared. The service SAP<SID>_00 is started normally. The ABAP instance can be showed every time when SAPMMC start. The SQL Server is working normally. The database instance of Java system is connected. Only the database of ABAP is missing. Is there any service related to the database instance need to start? Can we add back the database to it in SAPMMC?

We have already run sapstartsrv.exe to uninstall the service and re-install it again. The situation is the same. ABAP instance is list without the database. We have also replaced the file in \usr\sap\BID\SYS\profile to previous version. It still not work.

Could you please help to advise the solution? Thanks.

The root cause has been found. The Start profile contents are merged with Instance profile in the system. However, after we changed parameter by RZ10. The parameter from Start profile is missing. After add the parameter manually, the instance can start normally.

Dear

Go to user management of windows

Change SAPServiceSID user password.

Start Services manager.

Double click on Service SAP<SID>_<inst no> may be SAP<SID>_00.

Go to Password tab (I can not say exactly what in English OS, its second

tab in Win2K and NT it will be on main screen)

Change the password to recently given password for that user.

Restart your m/c and its done, u will get ur SAP System in MMC.

check following services are running fine

OracleServiceSID

SAPOsCol

SAPSID_00

Change in SAP by T-code RZ10

When uninstall the Service, the BIP ABAP instance in SAPMMC and the service SAPBIP_00 in Control Panel Services is removed.

When reinstall BIP service by sapstartsrv.exe, SAPBIP_00 will be added in Control Panel Services and Status is Started. However, BIP instance in SAPMMC still does not have database instance.

Hi Sriram,

I have followed the procedure to configure the instance one by one into MMC. However, BIP ABAP instance still cannot load the database instance.

The diagram is still the same.

Remove these parameters from start profile, and set them in instance profile - is start profile was used in rz10.

Now, goto smp and look at these notes

1434966 - SAP MMC Snap-In does not start all instances of a system

2010805 - SAP MMC

You might be getting some logs and info like in event viewer when you start the system, share that.

Hi

You just forget it SAP MMC, you can start the SAP instance by command line and check the instance status on the task manager, you can go the exe folder of BIP just type the command to start the SAP

Start the SAP system  command -

startsap name=SID nr=(Instance number) SAPDIAHOST=(IP or Remote host name)

check and tell us the status

Hi Sriram,

After run the command, it shows:

STARTSAP failed

Details are written to \usr\sap\BIP\DVEBMGS00\exe\startBIP.log

Here is the content of startBIP.log

running sapstart.exe name=BIP nr=00 SAPDIAHOST=<IP Address> -wait
SAPSTART finished successfully on <IP Address>_BIP_00, but at least one process doesn't run correctly:

sapstart.exe=>sapparam(1c): No Profile used.

Thanks.
