PCK question

Hi folks,

Is it mandatory a communication channel type XI to connect PCK to XI-Integratio Server? Can I use the SOAP communication channel or other else available on the PCK?

Hi Ricardo,

there's also one more thing that you need to consider: licence

you need to check if you can use a PCK with XI with some

other adapter then XI adapter and if that will not violate the licence agreement

(please check that with your SAP sales office in your country)

Hi Ricardo,

its not mandatory to go with XI Type Adpater..

U can go with SOAP..

And PCK has got File,JDBC,JMS,SOAP and RFC only....

it is limited to the use of above adapters only.

Hi Ricardo,

It is obligatory that in any scenario running over the PCK one of the channels (sender or receiver) must be of type XI. There is a check for this and any other combination (SOAP - File) would not work.

I do not see any issue here. XI protocol is based on HTTP - SOAP. When you have a router between XI and PCK, just put the router address to the PCK channel. The router forwards the message to XI. This is a common usage.

You can use this url http:<hostname>:<ABAP-http-port>/sap/xi/engine?type=entry to directly post messages into XI.

Hi Satish,

Using the URL http:<hostname>:<ABAP-http-port>/sap/xi/engine?type=entry I'm using the direct access to IS trough Receiver channel type XI.

I'm asking this because between XI and PCK I have a web service that is needed. The purpose of this web service is only rooting the messages to XI PCK->WS->XI.

Full scenario: (web services) <-> XI <-> (web service rooter) <-> PCK <-> R/3.

My customer needs to know if the communication between PCK and XI uses SOAP standard. Using XI adapter, the protocol is XI messaging and is a SAP-specific implementation of the SOAP protocol. I don’t know if this SOAP protocol is standard to work with all common web services.

Maybe using the SOAP channel, the SOAP protocol is 100% standard and it works for all common web services on the network… I guess!

That’s the reason that I would like to know if a PCK can talk with XI via SOAP adapter, instead of XI com. Channel.

If anyone sees any impediments, please be free and tell me.

PCK can talk with XI via SOAP adapter is true. Check this help on how PCK supports SOAP adapter:
