Hi...
Would it be a problem to install new SAP Application Server in production where the instance number is the same in the existing SAP Application Server in QA, for example :
PRODUCTION
CI Server with SID PRO and instance number 10
DIA Server with SID PRO and instance number 11
QA
CI Server with SID QAS and instance number 11
As you see above, the instance number in production and QA is same, but the SID is different.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Sandy,
Instance number can be different - no problem.
However, what causes problem is same hostname and SIDs in a same connected network.
You can install an instance with same number in your landscape for same SID provided hostnames are different.

Hi...
Thanks for the reply...
: I guess it's not a distributed installation. It is done by our consultant.
PRD :
DB Server
APP 1 Server instance number 10
APP 2 Server instance number 11 --> this server is the one that i installed myself
QAS
CI (DB+APP) instance number 11
DEV
CI (DB+APP) instance number 12
I have setup APP 2 Server with instance number 11.
Former Member : Thanks for your answer. I will keep the server. cheers...

Hello Sandy,
In distributed installation, for CI - 00 and if any appservers then 01,02,.......
So, DEV, QAS and PRD are separate. There is no link between instance numbers in the system landscape.
Ex:
DEV
CI - 00
QAS
CI - 00
PRD
CI - 00
Appservers 01,02,...99
But generally in any landscape there will appservers for production only.
In distributed installation, the system where DB is installed will be linked in the CI.
