SAP GUI 730 Compilation difference ?

Dear all,

can anybody tell my, what war the difference between the SAP GUI 730 Compilation 1, Compilation 2 and 3 ?

Hi Ralf,

The compilations are somewhat like the 'Service Release' versions of NetWeaver:  they are the same product and same release, but the installation has a higher patch level already bundled in.  So, Compilation 3 will be at a higher patch level as soon as you install it compared to the original 7.30 release, etc.  Additionally, sometimes new components are included with the successor compilations that weren't in the original release.  For example, NWBC is available standard in the installation beginning with Compilation 2.

So, if you are installing, or setting up an installation server, you will always want to use the highest available compilation, and then patch it with the highest available patch.  However, once you have your installation, if a new compilation comes out, you don't need to worry about updating to it.  You can simply apply the new patches as they are released.
