Hello experts,
For one of our clients we would need to create a dashboard report. However, during the analysis of the technology used to create this kind of reports (Xcelsius 2008), we have the following questions. Let me explain them:
In the following post it is explained the 4 steps to be done to create this kind of reports. Post: http://scn.sap.com/people/sumita.jayaraman/blog/2010/11/22/analytics-part-2-creating-custom-xcelsius...
In a separated document there is a comment regarding the integration to be done by the XML data connection. However, inside this post it is said that it is not needed because it is done by the real-time query framework existin in SAP Sourcing:
So my first question: could you please confirm no additional customization is required regarding integrating XML data connection?
In addition, regarding the queries created in SAP Sourcing that will be used in the dashboard reports, we have the following questions:
Thanks in advance for your time and support.
Best regards,
Isaac
Hi Isaac,
XML data connections are required for the Dashboard reports to work in
SAP Sourcing. Your Dashboard report should have at least one XML Data Connection. Depending on the complexity of the report, you may have multiple XML Data Connections. Each XML Data Connection can be associated with one or more queries. During runtime XML Data Connection will send the query names, filter parameters to SAP Sourcing to request specific information back from the server. The data retrieved and displayed on the Dashboard report will be the most current data persisted in the DB.
I would suggest taking a look at the links below…

Hope this helps.

Hi Vikram,
Thanks a lot for your support. In addition, we are also following this document: https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000245372012E/XcelsiusReportsGuide_w9.pdf because we have already read the 2 links you posted above but we needed deeper knowledge regarding this topic and that SAP document is adding that.
Thanks again and best regards,
Isaac
