Oracle DBA standard jobs

Hi,

Is there any sequence for scheduling dba jobs in DB13(Check DB, Verify DB,Update statistics etc)?.

You 1st check DB.

You then update stats

And then verify DB

This sequence is logical.

You 1st Check DB

if required, you built stats

You verify DB

Hi Chandrasekhar,

There is no sequence for this . It is based on requirement and suggestions from EWA report.

Ideally we have Update statistics & Check DB configured on daily basis.

Verify DB to be scheduled either on weekends or low load activities as it consumes good amount of DB resources. So plan this job accordingly.

You normally schedule on a daily basis:

UpdateStats first and 1h later CheckDB

Reason for this is that otherwise you may get warnings related to index stats being obsolete

Then on weekend run once VerifyDB and Cleanuplogs

Note VerifyDB takes a long time.

This is a best practice, I have not seen this documented on any note.
