How to test compression ratio for lob

Dear all,

I would like to know how to test the compression ratio for lob , if i convert it to securefiles.

I wonder if the GET_COMPRESSION_RATIO Procedure still applied for lob...

Thank you

Kate JI

Hi

I've never tried that package on Lob but I would be suspicious, as I'm not sure it can handle the two form of lobs, as the lob data that is under 4 Kb is not stored in the lob but in the table itself (inline lob).

Compression factor should then be different.

By the end compression should always be lower as many of the biggest lobs store data that does not present such a redundancy factor (patterns that can be compressed) as for text or numeric field.
