Hi experts,

I would like to update a webdispatcher.

OS is windows 2003, x64, SP 2

Current Version is 7.11.0

kernel release = 711

How do I have to do this?

I've already downloaded sapinstgui7202_17 and sapwebdisp_618.

But do be honest, I am not sure if this files are correct and suitable.

Next thing is, that I don't know exactly how to patch it.

Is it a big deal?

Kind regards

Thank you for the help.

But this is only for the installation.

How to deal with an update?

Kind regards

You take the backup of your folder. Stop sap services and uncar the webdispatcher sar file in it's executable location

Refer my 2nd link.

Hi all,

I did the following now.
I unpacked .sar file (uncar).

Then I did exchange the old content with the new one and also the config-file.

But after starting the webdispatcher-service again I get the following error:

What version has you used ? replace your config file with the one you have backed up.

Run this command: sapwebdisp pf=sapwebdisp.pfl -checkconfig

Hello Divyanshu,

I already did use the old config file.

I tried the following in cmd:

sapwebdisp.exe pf=<config.txt> -checkconfig

But I get the output "The system cannot execute teh specified program"

Stop the service from services.msc.

Kill all web dispatcher process including startsrv.

Refer: 552286 - Troubleshooting for the SAP Web Dispatcher

for how to do it.

Hi Divyanshu,

we did now decide to make a new installation on a new host 2012 R2.

I've one qustion to this, is it ok, to use the following guideline for this installation?

Sap netweaver 7.4->Installation->Standalone Engines->Web Dispatcher for SAP NetWeaver 7.1 or higher

At the moment we are having two abap system which we want to use with the webdispatcher.

ERP which is on 731 and another system which is on 702.

Is it ok to use this webdispatcher?

Hi Christian,

As per the note: 908097 - SAP Web Dispatcher: Release, Installation, Patches, Documentation

"SAP Web Dispatcher is downward compatible. You can use any supported version that is greater or equal to the kernel version of your backend system. SAP Web Dispatcher version 7.20 is also upward compatible with all 7.2x kernel versions. The SAP Web Dispatcher versions 7.20, 7.40 and 7.41 can be downloaded from the SAP Software Download Center as described below."

And yes, please check PAM for compatibility.

Hello Divyanshu,

thank you very much again.

I already tried PAM, but couldn't found anything regarding WebDispatcher.

Kind regards

he one last question - promised

At this link https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000877232012E

Page 24 I can't really follow.

Which file-systems are required now?

/usr/sap/<sid>

/usr/sap/trans

Is this enough?

What about the sapmnt, will this be shared automatically at installation?

Kind regards

As per the guide, you need both.

However, I don't think or have seen trans usage.

And create the share manually, let the installer do the rest.
