Confused with Array Bind Size Meaning In User Manual

PFA.

In universes there are two parameters: array bind size and array fetch size.

I know what array fetch size is.  However, I do not have luck finding what array bind size is.  Look at this from one of the user manuals (Attached).

What does INSERT have to do with Universes?

Hi

Array Bind Size and Array Fetch Size are configuration parameters for connections.

Array Bind Size in IDT

  • This parameter is not used for universes created using the information design tool.

Array Bind Size in UDT

  • The Array bind size  parameters are not used for OLAP connections.
  • Array Bind Size of the bind array that connection server uses before sending to the repository.
  • The bind array is the area in memory where connection server stores a batch of data to be loaded.
  • Generally the larger the bind array, the more rowa can be loaded in one operation, and the better your performances.

Array Fetch Size

  • It is the number of records to be extracted from database at each fetch. E.g if your report query is supposed to fetch 5000 records and array fetch size is set to 100 then business object will connect to database 50 times and retrieve 100 records in each fetch. This will degrade the performance of the reports.
  • It is therefore preferred to modify the array fetch size as per the adequate memory on the client side.

Hello Dasari,

Thanks for the Quick Reply.

Is there any source stating the above for Array Bind Size in UDT.

Just for the Confirmation.
