Hi,
I am new to HANA and I have heard that calculation view is recommended for better performance. But I am not able to understand the exact reason. Can anyone explain it.
I also want to know whether it is recommended not to create any attribute view and analytical view. Create just calculation view?
Will be great if anyone could answer this.
Hi Safiyudeen,
No particular view type has any general recommendation. The different view types are used in different modelling scenarios. eg. Attr view for master data needs, Analytic views for multidimensional modelling needs etc. Personally I feel the calc. view has more flexibility. Most of the modelling scenarios in our project use calc. views but i would not give a general recommendation without knowing your requirements.
Interestingly all of SAP delivered views in HANA Live are calculation views. Here's an interesting discussion on this,
Regards,
Benedict

HANA information views are prepared based on reporting requirements.
First Attribute and Analytic views will be prepared.
If these does not meet the requirements then Graphical Calculation view will be preferred.
If still does not meet the requirements then SQLScript Calculation view will be prepared.
