How to find out if a Product is HU or non HU managed in SAP EWM ?

Hi All,

Sorry for a naive question. But i tried to google this thing but couldn't find much material on SAP EWM.

How do i know if a Product is HU managed or non HU managed in SAP EWM ?

Hi Lokesh,

One way of finding that product need to come in HU is checking its putaway indicator and related assigned storage type. If that storage type has HU required and business has fixed putaway indicator under product master then this product will come always as HU based otherwise there no hard codding at EWM side.

HU can pack in Packing work center and Vas work center in EWM outbound.

according to my understanding of HU managed product you do not have an equivalent in EWM, every
product can be packed in HUs but can also be handled without HUs.

Using the warehouse monitor you can see if the product is packed into an HU or not. In the storage type customizing you can configure whether you can use HUs in a special storage type
or not.

What is the use of assigning the HU to Storage Type and Storage Bin Type ?

and how to create a new HU ?

you can control per storage type whether an HU is allowed or not.

so you do not assign the HU but a setting if HUs are allowed or not.

You can create a new HU in various processes e.g. picking or packing. It's not possible to list all possibilities here.

What process are you trying to execute?

This is usually executed at a packing work center. (see SAP Help)
