Bin Angle - Storage Bin Master Data

Former Member

Hello,

Please see the above image.  My concern is with setting the correct bin angle for our storage bins.

Based on just the X and Y coordinates, if a bin is facing out north in our warehouse (from the arrows), would it be set for 360?  What would be the default setting for bins facing north?  Similarly, what would be the angle for the bins facing south in our warehouse?  Would it simply be 180 degrees less than the bins facing north?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan

Take compass and take angle calculator, and update in bin master data and u will get sorted one by one.

A common question from practitioners who are first implementing labor management

is how they should determine where to place the origin (the 0,0,0 point) in their warehouse.

Because the distance calculations are based on relative differences between the

points, it doesn’t really matter where the origin is located. However, it makes it easier

for most people to understand where the locations are relative to one another if the origin

is placed in the bottom left part of the map when looking at it in its most common

orientation. This allows all of the numbers to be on the positive scale in all three dimensions.

Just remember that your yard locations can also be assigned XYZ coordinates, so

you may want to consider that as well when determining your origin.

Hello Suraj,

Thanks for the help!  Is this to say that exactly north-facing bins would correspond with 360?  South corresponds to 180 degrees less than that?  We will use an angle calculator to figure out exactly where each aisle of bins is facing.

Thank you again for all of the feedback!

Hi Dan,

I am not sure but what I can suggest you. you need four things x,y,z and angle. check with any autocad person making 3d look of ur warehouse all will come out automatically and with perfect calculation.

As he will consider one start point and give all details for all nodes and points you want.

It will become quite simple and proper approach for you.

Hi Suraj,

Thank you again so much for all of your help.

I have a few final questions:

Are the bin angles something we can define ourselves through the SAP developers?  And how do we know which side of the bin is facing "outward" where they are picked from?

Thanks again for all of the feedback.  I'm sure to have additional questions in the future.

Hi Dan

As you never like my ans I was in impression that they all are not helpful.

Now about facing your bins for picking that can be answered when we visit physical wh.

and also try to read EWM125 for travel distance calculation to get actual impact of ur org structure of wh.
