Hello Kanishk

Yes. You can work as MDG functional consultant. But its better to know technical details which helps you to know the system. As a functional consultant you are responsible for -

1. Design end to end governance process

2. Set up the approval process

3. Data modelling

4. Process modelling

5. Set up replication model with help from technical

6. End to end system testing

7. Data load  setup and actual data load

These are some of the key areas where you can work but the scope is huge for functional too as you are responsible to get the system up and live....

Hello Kanishk,

As Kiran rightly pointed out, Functional consultant has a very big role to play in any MDG implementation, as they are the person who understand the business process and depending on which the MDG implementation (system build) will start after all.

But, aside from functional aspect, Its better to have a technical skills,

Basically MDG has 3 core areas:-

1. Data Modeling (In this Functional Consultant plays a major role, based on the inputs a technical consultant will designing the overall structure).

2. UI Modeling

3. Process Modeling(Workflow)

So, In a nutshell,  Technical knowledge will e surely an added advantage, but functional side is also having a  very broad scope.

Hope it helps.
