ERS installation on existing HA setup

Hi Experts,

We have a existing setup of HA which does not have ERS installed on it  !!!

OS - AIX 6.1

SAP - multiple landscapesfor each component varying from ECC, BI, PI, etc...

DB - oracle

current setup:

ASCS or SCS - virtual host with two nodes - LPARS ( we do not have dual stack. its either JAVA or ABAP)

Central Instance - server1 - WPAR

Dialog instance - server2,3 etc - WPAR(S)

DB - virtual hot with two nodes - LPARS

fail over does not work properly (for obvious reasons... as this is a messed up setup 😞 ).

I would like your views/suggestions on installing ERS on the above setup.

Regards,

Sree

Request you to please place this discussion 'SAP on AIX' as well if possible.

Thanks and Regards,

Hello,

You must install the ERS on each physical node of your ASCS cluster (virtual  host LPARS).

After that, add the parameter on the ASCS instance profile:

enque/server/replication = true

Restart the SAP system and start the ASCS on active node and the ERS instance on passive nodes.

Regards.

Hi Fabio,

We have installed a new setup with ERS installed. We have done the settings and are performing the tests.

Now, the reason to raise this discussion is to get you expert suggestions so as to adopt the HA setup with ERS for the existing landscsape. The exising landscape is so called 'HA cluster setup' does not work at all.....

What we are trying to achieve is to setup a test HA cluster, install SAP on it, perform tests and check if everything is ok.

Here comes the point for discussion - hoiw to adopt the working environment on to the messedup setup?

Please let me know if your opinion on this.

Sree

Hello

Have you checked the installation guide ?

It speaks about the ERS installation in a High Availability setup.

Hello

It doesn't matter if the installation guide is for DB2. Even if you check the installation guide based on Oracle the installation option for HA is same for both. The section 2.3 High-Availability System of the installation guide clearly answers that.

If the failover doesn't work as expected then you should supply logs to understand the reason behind it.

Lastly there is no need to move the thread to the AIX forum as your query is basically related to installation.
