Do we need to have SAP ME if we implemented SAP MII

Hi:

I quite confuse.

Do we need SAP ME to installed and pass data to SAP MII?

can SAP MII use standalone or integrated with R/3 only?

Hello Mandy,

It all depends on your requirement. MII can be integrated to both SAP ME and R/3. It can also connect to a number of other systems. But there is no hard and fast rule that you need ME to also be installed in order to work with MII.

Hi Mandy,

SAP ME comes with SAP MII already built in as the interface to ERP (R/3) and can also be used to interface to other systems.  However the large majority of MII systems are standalone and used for many purposes include MES, but definitely not limited to MES.
