SAP NW 7.3 EHP1 Installation for SAP MII 14.0

Dear Experts,

While installaing SAP NW 7.3 EHP1 we have to select SAP NetWeaver Usage Types which will be needed by our processes.

We want to install SAP MII 14.0 hence what all Usage Types will be needed for the same?

In our case DB - MSSQL 2K8 R2 Server.

Please share the pointers.

SAP NW 7.31 Install. Error- Connect to message server(sap/3901) failed:MSENILAYER

Dear Deepak,

We want to install SAP Netweaver 7.3 EHP 1 or 7.31 on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit operating system.

Before starting Netweaver installation we installed RDBMS files of MSSQL Server 2008 Enteprise Edition 64bit from SAP Service Marketplace.

We installed a separate MSSQL Server 2008 on same operating sys for SAP MII installation in future.

Now as shown in screenshot, on executing the 4th step of "sapinst.exe" i.e execute, we faced the following error.

Steps while installation :

1. We started from standard installation via - SAP EHP1 for SAP NW 7.3 -> MSSQL Server -> SAP System -> Application Server Java -> Standard System.

2. We did not install SAP Host Agent separately before starting SAP NW installation.

3. After defining all the parameters we started execution:-

After getting this error, we saw the Program Files -> SAP folder contains one folder named as : hostctrl .

hostctrl has two folders - exe and work.

exe contains a file :host_profile

Can you 'sec' folder in exe of hostagent

Check this below note for missing sapNThalib.dll

Hi Deepak,

I saw your note in the other thread.

There the solution is indicating the use of appropriate Kernel for SAP NW 7.4.

In our case, while defining parameter for Kernel directory, I gave -

\SAPNetweaver73EHP1x6464bit\51044253_2\DATA_UNITS\K_720_U_WINDOWS_X86_64 .

and Installer did not complain.

Hi Muddassar,

As per SAP note 1728283 - SAP Kernel 721: General Information

for NW 7.31 Kernel 720 is not supported . You need to use either 721 or 721_ext.
