SUM fails in the Phase PREP_INPUT/INSTANCELIST_PRE

Dear colleagues,

We're upgrading our ERP from EHP4 to EHP7 and encounter the problem with SUM in PREP_INPUT/INSTANCELIST_PRE phase: <sid>adm user password is not recognized by the procedure.

System: ECC 6 EHP 4on NetWeaver 7.02

High Availability Environment on Microsoft Failover Cluster - clustered ASCS + DB instance + 1 application - dialog instance server

Kernel: 7.20 X64 UNICIDE version 7200.600.22.39073

Operation System MS Windows 2012

Database: MS SQL 2012 SP1

SUM version: SUM10SP10_8-206676

Till now we:

1. installed MS SQL Native Client on all servers

2. installed SQLCMD according to note 1690835

3. installed latest sapstartsrv (version 7200.600.22.39073) according to note 1878193

4. checked and performed all activities according to notes 1715038 and 1563660 - all checks were OK

5. SUM kernel files are on the latest version (7410.31.22.50070)

Attached is INSTANCELIST_PRE log. May I say, that

sapcontrol -nr 4 -host src-nt785-sap -user <sid>adm <password> -function AccessCheck Start

returns:

AccessCheck

OK

Do you have any additional idea or experience according to the error?

Thank you,

Samo

Hi,

As you mentioned using latest kernel version 741 and as per logs

SUM kernel files are on the latest version (7410.31.22.50070)

environment variable ENV: rsdb_ssfs_connect=0. First try to use SSFS connection method by setting parameter value to 1 and re execute the phase.

Hi Gaurav,

I set rsdb_ssfs_connect = 1 and repeated the phase. It also finished with error after put the correct password in. Strange thing is, that procedure actually didn't consider this change, because in SAPup.ECO you can still find:

ENV: rsdb_ssfs_connect=0

Maybe I should try to start SUM form the beginning so that environmental variables are taken?

Samo

Update to last post:

I stopped the update and started SUM from beginning. The error is still there.

But SUM encountered new value of environmental variable - namely: SAPup.ECO has now:

ENV: rsdb_ssfs_connect=1

So, this doesn't work for me.

BTW - I have an open incident at processing by SAP - till now, no answer jet.

Hi Samo,

After setting ENV: rsdb_ssfs_connect=1 are you able to connect database. Please share the trans.log file for analysis.

Also share which SUM version are you using right now ?

Gaurav

Hi Gaurav,

Yes, connection to DB was OK.

As I stated in the beginning, version of SUM is SUM10SP10_8.

I'll attach the log torrow when I'll be back in the office.

Samo

Hi Gaurav,

attached is a trans log from SUM\abap\tmp. It seems that procedure doesn't take in the account rsdb_ssfs_connect, because it's still = 0.

Hi Samo,

As you've already followed SAP Notes   1715038 - <SID>adm user can not be verified in a distributed environment

  1563660 - sapcontrol, <sid>adm authorization issues (SUM)

927637 - Web service authentication in sapstartsrv as of Release 7.00

and are already mentioned above, finally it would be best to wait for the revert from SAP Support for the solution.

Regards,

Gaurav

Hi Samo,

Please check the solution in thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3296499

Solution is to create a local user with similar password.

Hope this helps.

Additionally refer to SAP Note 1563660 - sapcontrol, adm authorization issues (SUM)

Dear Deepak,

Thank you for your efforts. But all you've suggested is included (checked and performed) in my point 4 (notes 1715038 and 1563660).

Kind regards,

Samo

Hi Samo,

Could you check the GPO settings in Windows

GPO setting, Computer Configuration\Windows settings\security settings\local policies\user rights management\log on as a service.

Ensure that sidadm and SAPServiceSID are listed here.

Check on both the nodes as it is HA setup.

Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori
