HI Experts

I will be really obliged if anyone of you could point out whether there are any differences between the SAP EHS Fiori Application (released in 05/2014- Link) and SAP Native EHS application. I have some understanding of the native (iOS) EHS app however, wants to know does SAP Fiori app (which is HTML5) supports the device capabilities like voice recording etc. If yes, then how can we run this on desktop.

Hi Gunjan,

Mobile app - can access to device functions

Web app - can not access to device functions. You can build mobile app using Cordova plugins. Please take a look in .

Thanks Masa and Midhun for your replies. So as of now The Fiori version of EHS does not have features like taking photos of the issues, voice recording etc. Can you please point out what all features are there in this fiori based EHS app so that we can analyze what all explicit features we might want when cordova framework and SMP are integrated with Fiori and perhaps leverage the device features in the app.

Fiori application will not support native features of device currently, because it is a web application. As per the blog mentioned by Masayuki when SMP start supporting Fiori apps we can expect native features in the app (run as hybrid app with cordova framework).

There is a big difference between native apps and web apps. Native apps can give best UI and performance, it has great development frameworks and it can access all native features of device. But there are difficulties in life cycle management of application (updating app in devices) and it supports only single platform. Web apps comes here for help, it has multi platform support and life cycle management is really easy but it will not support native features of device.
