hi
order series and time series has always been a point of confusion ,any screen that has some planning element accounted against time is time series for example RRP3 product view is where you will find both order vs time ,
time series shows some monotony like planning book screen i meant SDP94 ,SNP94, screens - it shows quantities alone against product or orders generated over a period of time ..However this is my assumption ,I am not sure if my assumption correct or not ? please correct me if i am wrong ..
thanks
Hi Rahul,
You have following storage methods in liveCache:
- liveCache time series objects
- liveCache order series objects
In time series objects, the data is stored in buckets with no reference to orders. This storage method is suitable for tactical, aggregated planning. It is generally used for saving current demand planning data.
On the other hand, in order series objects, data is stored with reference to orders. This storage method is suitable for operative planning e.g. SNP.
Hope this helps!

Hi Rahul,
The storage bucket profile, time bucket profile, and SNP, PPDS horizons are separate things.
storage bucket profile- periodicities in which the data is stored in the planning area
time bucket profile- time buckets in which you want to view your data in planning book
SNP horizon- time period within which SNP does not plan any orders
PPDS horizon- time period within which PPDS can create orders
Let me explain time series and order series in a very simple term:
time series example- demand history and statistical forecast, manual correction etc. key figures in demand planning book are stored in time series objects and there are no order categories linked to these. The time buckets periodicities (e.g. day/week/month) in which these are stored are defined in the storage bucket profile.
Order series example: The orders in SNP/PPDS planning (operative planning) e.g. planned orders, purchase requisitions etc. All these orders have an order category linked to it. e.g. purchase requisition category AG. These are identified in APO liveCache with reference to these categories and stored accordingly.
Please let me know if this clarifies your doubts.
Regards,
Umesh
