How we can save our repository version logs and our customizing table changes

Hi Experts,

we are planning to export quality system standard client 001  and want to import into development system standard client 001. While doing this, we want to save all the versions of our repository objects (tables, ABAPs etc.) and table changes on customizing tables (in development system)

Can this be done and if yes, what is the best approach to do this. Please suggest your recommendation .

Regards

Arpan

Hi Arpan,

Just curious to know which is the SAP product( ECC, BI etc) on which you plan to perform client export/import of 001.

Just for information: With client export/import object versions are not overwritten.

Hi Deepak,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Our SAP ProductVersion - ECC 6.0 EHP6.

As I understand from your reply . when I import the quality system client 001 into the development system client 001,  In that case development system client 001 repository version, Custom table version log are still in the client 001 after the successful  importing the quality system client.

It mean Both the version are exist in Development system client 001 (Dev and Qty) ?

Please suggest your recommendation.

Hi Arpan,

Are you productively using client 001 within your ECC system ?

when I import the quality system client 001 into the development system client 001,  In that case development system client 001 repository version, Custom table version log are still in the client 001 after the successful  importing the quality system client.

Which profile do you plan to use for client export/import ?

HI Deepak,

Thanks for provide valuable information .

Yes this is productive client(001) in development since 1986.  So we are exporting SAP_ALL from Quality system (only client Dependent information request import KT, KX ).

Hi Deepak,

The SAP note that you have referenced talks about transporting the version information from one system to another. Our requirement is for one specific client using Client Export/Import process.

Will this note work for our requirement also or is it only meant for when we perform system copy.

Hi Arpan,

SAP note is proposed by other colleague in his response. I have not proposed any SAP note to you

Now based on your inputs.

With SAP_ALL profile you need not migrate the versions to your development system.

This profile will not overwrite any version for the objects.

Hope this helps.

Did you read the SAP note properly ?

The SAP note suggests the option to backup the version information.

You export the version information to the OS level using R3trans and then import it back (again using R3trans with the export dump) once the system copy has been completed.

Surprised to hear that you are using 001 as productive client!!!

Why don't you create a new client and start using instead of playing with master client?
