Disaster recovery in ECC6 ABAP plus Java

Hi all,

This is my first experience working with ECC6 ABAP plus Java. The normal backup we do using brbackup is taking the backup of the ABAP database and the J2EE information too. There is also a front end of the J2EE install. If we try to just restore the database to another system the J2EE front end will not communicate with the J2EE instance in the database as they are different.

Now the question is how to back it up and restore it. The backup we are doing at this point is good for local database recovery but if our Operating system dies for some reason then what would be the form of recovery.

In short I need to know if we can do the front end J2EE backup as well along with the whole database backup containing ABAP and Java and do the recovery on some other system to test the disaster recovery scenario.

If there is no solution then system export is an option thats having all the information of the DB and the front end too... but its not always possible to do the system export as it takes too long.

Please advise.

Thanks.
