EDI subsystems

We are evaluating EDI subsystems other than Seeburger. Not necessary as a XI adapter but as a EDI subsytem, a B2B SW that's proven to work efficiently with XI over SOAP / JMS, etc

Can one of you suggest few such SW packages.

Thank you.

Hi!

Check also the mendelson business integration (mbi) for XI.

mbi include communication moduls and converter moduls. Also available is easy to use graphical IDE for developing of mappings.

The mbi receive messages from EDI partners and send them to XI via HTTP adapter. Back it get messages from XI and send them to EDI partners at any communication adapter.

The mendelson solution is SAP certificated and many productive users are available.

If I had to choose between BC / IBM dataexhange 3.x / Gentran

What would you recommend? and why?

Mercator - is that a EDI subsystem?? I know its a converter.

Thanks.

Hi,

BC is a well known and very mature soft

(continued with the name webmethods - factory)

it always worked with SAP (as BC was previous SAP recommended middleware

- before XI)

I worked with EDI on it and it still works

So if I need to build an EDI interface using BC and XI, would that make sense.

Is it this way?

SAP => XI => BC(EDI) => Vendor

Thanks.

Hi,

If you want to use only BC then this is also feasible:

SAP =>BC(EDI) => Vendor

hi,

yes that's the way

you can always use SAP conversion agent

that will make it

SAP => XI => Vendor

as SAP conversion agent is implemented as an adapter module for the

XI adapters (file for example)

this way you don't need any other tools and it has to work

I should have asked you before this.

About BC:

1. Does BC support Trading partner management

2. Can you configure messages by packet size, DUNS number or other number in control data, etc

3. Can you configure functional acks easily?

4. How do you find its monitoring capabilities

5. Do its have xsds for popular EDI messages?

At this point I'm strictly talking about using BC as EDI subsystem.

Thank you.

Michael,

looks like there will be no further development for BC. Would that impact my decision on it?

Hi,

>>>>1. Does BC support Trading partner management

BC no - webmethods I believe yes

>>>>2. Can you configure messages by packet size, DUNS number or other number in control data, etc

don't know

>>>>3. Can you configure functional acks easily?

sure

>>>>4. How do you find its monitoring capabilities

if you compare to XI BC is bad but with new webmethods it has improved a lot

>>>>5. Do its have xsds for popular EDI messages?

of course

michal
