Afaria, iOs7 and Per App VPN

Hi,

we are trying to get the per App VPN functionality working. The following steps wer done:

1. Changed a configuration policy for ios and setuped a per app vpn connection.

2. Changed an application configuration to use the new created vpn connection.

3. Push to device.

The configuration policy and the app are installed correctly. When I start the App which should use the per app vpn connection, only the application starts. No VPN Connection is started.

I tried to create the VPN connection manuell on the device to check wether the credentials are correct and this works. We tried different devices (iPhones) and different apps but this doesn't help.

We are using Afaria 7 SP4 and the latest iOs 7 version.

Is there anything missing which needs to be activated to be able to use the per app vpn function?

Thanks,

Christian

What VPN Client are you using ? (and what VPN server are you connecting to ?)

Cisco AnyConnect doesn't have Per App VPN yet....

Hi Christian,

Are you sure that "Cisco IPSec for VPN" supports Per App VPN ?

I couldn't find any information to support this.

Hi,

no I'm not sure. Do you knwo which VPN Types are supported for per App VPN?

Or is there any support documentation from Apple which shows this?

"Per App VPN" requires additional VPN software to be installed. Mocana, Cisco Anyconnect, F5, etc can do Per App VPN. The built-in VPN client doesn't do per-app.

Per-App VPN Payload

The Per-App VPN payload is used for configuring add-on VPN software, and it works only on VPN services of type 'VPN'. It should not be confused with the standard VPN payload, described in “VPN Payload.”
