FIORI: Launchpad - Failure - Unable to load groups

I can see the PO & PR Approve app in launch page, but nothing in launchpad.

System is Netwaever 7.4 with local Gateway server, installed components:

Hello Karthik,

I followed Masa's adviced and checked every OSS Note & applied every related Service pack.

Have a look at the notes that will be implemented by SAPK-74009INSAPUI. I applied most the notes from there that looked relevant.

Hi John.

I am getting exactly the same error message after installing SAPUI5 SP 09 as well. We installed it on 7/27 and today, as I investigate the impact, the error message is coming up on IE but not on Chrome. I will be curious to see if you get some good advice. I have been checking OSS notes too but haven't found any solutions yet.

Hi Rob,

We installed SP09 today and now the launchpad isn't working anymore, but both on IE, Chrome and even op the Ipad. Did you clear the browser cache in Chrome? If not would you be so kind to do so to find out if itsn't working on your system as well?

nope, you were right. I cleared my cache on Chrome and now it, too is generating the "Failure - Unable to load groups" error message.

However, when I connect to the launchpad WITHOUT our custom theme, it seems to work just fine. No error messages at all. 

Still not good, but maybe it will narrow down the issue?

Morning John,

Yes the problem was solved. But unfortunately I cannot say exactly what fixed it.  I manually applied as many notes from SP09 (since it was not released yet) as I could. I also rebooted the server, since it looked to me as if many of the notes were not pure ABAP changes.

We have the same problem after installing SP09. Could you please share the list of notes  you applied? Or screenshot of SNOTE would help a lot as well.

For what its worth, I rebuilt the theme according to Masa's recommendations above. It did not improve the "Failure - Unable to load groups" error message.

I installed the following notes, as recommended by OSS note 2019136 - Corrections for SAP NetWeaver UI Add-On 1.0 SP09:

Did not improve.

I rebooted with no improvement. Now I am bringing SAPUI5 up to 1.22.3 by installing:

I installed all of the previous OSS notes to bring SAPUI5 to SP09 patch 1.22.3. I wiped out the cache in my browsers and still get the "Failure - Unable to load groups" error message.

thinking that this might be related to activity groups, I removed all security roles from a test user-ID except for one, which should grant access to launchpad and apps.

no change.

I regenerated that role.

No change.

I ran PFUD.

No Change.

I removed the last remaining role from the user.

No change.

So something is going wrong even before the system can evaluate the security roles (groups) that are assigned to the user.

ps: I also opened a ticket but haven't heard anything back yet. When I do I will log it here.

Using the Google Chrome developer tools, I was able to see that its looking for a resource that is unavailable and getting a 404 error code while searching for

TargetMappings

/sap/opu/odata/UI2/INTEROP

The error code right before the 404 message refers to:

http://iwpw08v402.irwd.corp:8000/sap/public/bc/themes/~client-100/~cache-hAX

aQEg8OSAw394rk12NeuLIFbM/ZSAP_IronWood/library.css

ZSAP_IronWood is the name of our standard theme. I have rebuilt this theme several times, but maybe there is a problem with it?

if I bring up the launchpad without any theme whatsoever, no error is generated. Likewise, the admin console, which uses the standard theme seems to work without error.

If you rebuild custom theme in SP09 again, it should work. Can you test and confirm?

Hi Masa - great suggestion. I have rebuilt the theme several times over the last couple of days, but tried it again.

Sadly, there was no change after rebuilding the theme. I used the developer console again and it still showed the same 404 error message looking for /UI2/INTEROP

Just checking but I think it should already be there if Launchpad was working before. Still no harm in asking if you added this service for your system's Alias? Can you see it under SICF?

Not sure if that is right, but in my system along with INTEROP, there is another service LAUNCHPAD at the same path. Where is the path for launchpad pointing to in /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE?

that's interesting. I have no LAUNCHPAD service in the same path. I alos don't have a "MAINT_SERVICE" under IWFND. In fact, I couldn't find a LAUNCHPAD service anywhere. I changed the filter to show only ServiceNames that are equal to LAUNCHPAD and nothing came up.

Hi,

I mean go to tcode /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE and there Click on ADD SERVICE and then select your SYSTEM ALIAS and click on GET SERVICES..

There you would find LAUNCHPAD service. Click on it to add it and you should be able to see it under SICF. Then you can try to test it again

Hi Tajinder,

Your instructions were very clear and everything worked the way you suggested it would, except that it did not fix the problem. In SICF  I now have an entry called 'launchpad' in the same location as 'interop' as shown below. Both are active.

The developer console in Chrome returns the same result as before:

Good news! We got it working!  My basis resource says:

"I changed UI theme designer for ABAP: to Version 1.4.4, then rebuild theme and I was able to login without any issues."

I tried it myself and it looks good! I can't get it to break any more! Case closed.

Dear All,

We are also facing the same problem. But interesting thing is that my collegue does not have this problem while I have. Both of us are using the same user-id and password.

I have tried multiple options, but nothing works.

Any ideas are most welcome.

(how) did you solve this? I face the same problem with a colleague' s user only. Tried already deleting the cache

- iwfnd/cache_cleanup

- iwbep_cache_cleanup

-/ui2/invalidate_global_caches

-/ui2/invalidate_client_caches

- SMICM->http caches invalidate globally

/iwfnd/error_log does not show anything, that´s why i was assuming a caching issue?!

Hello,

we had the same error and fixed it by deleting the OData-Services and reconfigure them again:

Transaction /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE

Select service ZINTEROP, delete SICF-Nodes (left bottom side), delete systemalias (right bottom side) and (important!) click again on ZINTEROP and choos "delete service".

After that "add service", select your Systemalias, click "get services", choose /UI2/INTEROP and click "add selected services".

We also had to to this procedure for the service "ZTRANSPORT" and "ZPAGE_BUILDER_*"

Hello,

I am struggling with this Fiori Launchpad error 'Failure- Unable to load groups' for quite a long time.

I have all the suggestions in this thread, I tried your's as well to delete and re-create the services exactly you said. But no progress still the same error.

Did full day of stuff as per the thread

SAP Fiori - UI Add-on SP09 update troubleshooting

Did apply all the notes and cleared all the caches and ran the reports up to step 8, but still no progress.

I also recently upgraded my system to EHP7 and UI to SP09.

Please help, if you can think of anything clever to look after which could resolve the issues.

All performed the following actions, but I still get the same error "Failure - Unable to load groups"

1)    Double-Checked SAP Fiori LL17 - SAP Fiori launchpad troubleshooting

2)    Implemented 1957334 - Corrections for SAP NetWeaver UI Add-On 1.0 SP08

3)    Implemented 2010406 - UI theme designer for ABAP: Version 1.2.2

4)    Confirmed 1937715 - Installation Information for Approve Purchase Orders (MM) is applied.

5)    Implemented 0002029333 Fiori Launchpad displays no tiles: reset CHIP cache

6)    Checked Note 1942166

Any other suggestions?
