I have sucessfully installed SMP 3 on a machine (e.g. "MACHINE1") -- will be used for an Agentry application. During the installation, the certificate file (smp_crt.cer) is created in the "C:\SAP\MobilePlatform3\Server\configuration" folder. However, I have changed the name of the machine (e.g. to "MACHINE2"). Since the pre-existing certificate file is issued to/by MACHINE1, is there a process to re-create the smp_crt.cer file to be issued to/by MACHINE2? Or do I have to completely uninstall SMP3 and do a full reinstall so it can create the certificate for the current machine's name?

Hi Ed,
I didn't understand when you say "change machine name to MACHINE 2". Can you share more information on this.
is it possible for you to check the information available in that certificate file? It must be having host name details.
(You may try with textpad)

Hi Ed,
since you have already installed smp3.0 server, what do you see in host name when you open "management Cockpit"?
is host name showing as machine1 or machine 2?

Is is for MACHINE1 (e.g.: https://MACHINE1:8083:admin)
I can type in https://MACHINE2:8083/admin and it will start up the Cockpit, but will get a certificate error. I'm wanting to avoid this error as well as get a proper certificate for devices.
I guess the underlying question is this. If after installing SMP3 and the Windows machine name is changed, what changes/configurations need to be done for SMP3 to now work properly based on the new machine name? Is that answer is that SMP3 has to be completed uninstalled and reinstalled? Or are there utilities that can be run to change information from one machine name to another.

Ed,
Yes, unless you have DNS setup so that the hostname machine1 still resolves to the IP address of machine2 and you are going to have all your clients connect using the machine1 hostname you will need to regenerate your certificate to machine2.
Depending on the type of certificate you are wanting to generate you can use the java keytool to generate a new certificate. I will try to write up a document with the specific commands for you.
