PORTAL UPGRADE FROM NW7.0 TO 7.31 STCUKS IN EXEXCU...

Dear Experts,

while upgrading the Dual stack portal from NW7.0 to NW7.31 we are facing the error at Execution stage in deploy db content phase as below.

Could not update components. Deployment of queue Queue_2014.06.07 at 00:01:43 completed with error Could not connect to Deploy Controller. Make sure that AS Java and Deploy Controller service are running. com.sap.engine.services.dc.api.ConnectionException: [ERROR CODE DPL.DCAPI.1144] Could not establish connection to AS Java on [P358XCFYAP:50004]. Cannot establish connection with any of the available profiles: url=P358XCFYAP:50004 protocol=p4 (None); Reason: com.sap.engine.services.rmi_p4.P4IOException: Cannot open connection to host: 97.253.33.136 and port: 50004 Check if server is started, access point for the protocol is available, and IP/Host name is accessible on network.. Check if the host and port specified are correct and AS Java is up and running. javax.naming.NamingException: Exception while trying to get InitialContext. we are able to access the network and i have another doubt as per above issue can we try to start manually java shadow or original instance.

I found one note 1891477 for this issue. This note is telling the below suggestion for this issue:

Deploy the latest patch level of upgrading target SP for below two component SCAs:

SERVERCORE (For the cross service)

ENGFACADE (For the cross api)

**You should re-deploy using batch deployer scrips (Refer to Note#1162316). Afterwards, you shoud be ablve to resume SUM/JSPM upgrade process.

Dbase: oracle 11.2.03

SOLARIS:5.10

Please suggest us what to do for this issue we need provide the server by tomorrow to the users. Please see the attached logs.

Hi Samba,

please start JCMON and navigate with command 20 and 12.

Make sure that the dispatcher has opened port 50004 as shown in screenshot

Hi Samba,

Steps to follow to resolve the issue.

1. logon to the configtool.

2. select the file->cleck on safe mode.

3. For instance select no for each instance. This will bring the java stack from safe mode to normal mode.

4. then restart the system and when the system will come up completely then resume the SU M tool.

The error is related to deployer controller which has stopped.

More over check the deploy.trc and std_server0.out file in /usr/sap/<SID>/<instance JC or J<XX>>/work directory which will give you the exact error. I face several time the same issue this is how i resolved.
