What is the dependency on SAP PI to upgrade ECC from EHP5 to EHP6

Hi Experts,

We are planning to upgrade from SAP PI 7.11 to SAP PI 7.4 and our ECC systems will also be upgraded from EHP5 to EHP 6.

I want to know that if there will be any upgrade required in Software Component Versions? We are using SCV as IS-UT 605, SAP ABA 7.00 and SAP BASIS 7.00,7.10,7.11.

You will not have any issues with the SWCV for the Compoments you have listed.

However, in IDOC scenarios you will have to review the mapping because the IDOC_AAE adapter is very restrictive on using the right structures and the control record.

Some principles:

• The parameter SEGMENT="1" must be used in all segments, if you have mapping that have disable it, the adapter will fail to read the mesage
• DATE and TIME data types, if the IDOCs have been extender with field type Date or Time, then the format must be correct.
  • e.g. for a time field the format is HHMMSS, the value "1435" will fail,  it must be "143500"
• The following fields are mandatory the in IDOC control record:

  • TABNAM

    DIRECT

    IDOCTY

    CIMTYP

    MESTYP

    SNDPOR

    SNDPRT

    SNDPRN

    RCVPOR

    RCVPRT

    RCVPRN

For EhP 5 and 6 , I think there are no dependencies.

When you want to upgrade your ECC system to EhP 7, please read OSS note 1737650.
