Hi All,
We are in the process of evaluating the feasibility of installing BOBJ/ BODS 3.x & 4.x for a client; The notes 1492000 does not specifically tell us about the support under general specification [though they have covered on apps that are not covered under that]; I do understand that SAP products are supported with Hyper-V when installed with Win server 2008 & 2012.
Can someone help me with the below information:
Have you tried installing BOBJ/ BODS 3.x on Hyper-V
Have you tried installing BOBJ/ BODS 4.x on Hyper-V
If yes, was there anything that was supposed to be taken care while installation that is not covered under the configuration document.
Regards,
Arvind E
Hi Arvind,
As per SAP note 1409608 - Virtualization on Windows
3 Supported SAP applications
SAP supports all SAP applications and components that agree with the General Support Statement for Virtual Environments (see section 2 of SAP note 1492000) as long as you have implemented enhanced monitoring for virtualization.
All SAP applications that are based on SAP NetWeaver '04 SR1 and higher and that are supported on Windows 64-bit in a non-virtualized environment are also supported in a virtualized environment. These SAP applications are supported for non-productive and productive use as long as you have implemented enhanced monitoring for virtualization.
Check the requirements and minimum support package levels mentioned in SAP Note 1409604 for the activation of the enhanced monitoring.
SAP applications that are based on lower SAP NetWeaver versions cannot be supported by SAP.
To summarize both your BOBJ versions are supported.
Hope this helps.

Deepak Kori

I am unable to locate the SAP BOBJ PAM document that is under the link
This specifically has mentions about the Virtualization Matrix that includes HYPER-V and BOBJ 4.0; Was this document deleted by any chance or if this tailored document 😉

hi Arvind,
Deepak is completely right. The General Support Statement for Virtual Environments (SAP Note 1492000) replaces the special PAM for BI products in virtual environments. That means that you need to do a 3 steps approach for running BI on Windows in a virtual environment:
- Check the supported OS version in the PAM for your BI version.
- Check SAP Note 1492000 (BI is not on the exception list, so you can currently ignore this check for BI)
- Check SAP Note 1409608 for the supported Hyper-V version for the relevant OS version. Currently Win2012 or Win2012 R2 Hyper-V should be the preferred versions if you plan to use Hyper-V.
Best regards, Claudia
