Hi Imran,

usually we deliver new functionality for each MDG-S. If so, we create new PFCG roles to have a clear separation between old and new features. You may check the release information nodes or the general documentation for details.

Hi Imran,

we deliver normally one pfcg role per application per release. You mentioned the role SAP_MDGS which is the pfcg role for supplier for release EhP5. The role SAP_MDGS_MENU is for release EhP6 and SAP_MDGS_MENU_03 for MDG 6.1. So you should not use an old pfcg role in a higher release, but rather the according pfcg role. The recommended pfcg roles per release are mentioned in the configuration guide and also in the security guide.

Come back to your SAP_MDGS role, you should not use this role in higher releases, because we changed and renovated our UI application between release EhP5 and EhP6 and higher. If you will use the old pfcg role, then you will most likely run into the problem and also use our old UI which wont be supported in releases higher than EhP5.

Hi Imran,

from EhP6 on, we have to take care of some security requirements and there the segregation of duty is very important. Therefore we introduced a menu role, it is SAP_MDGS_MENU_03 which contains no authorizatons. So we defined 4 "personas" with the according authorization roles:

  • Auditor with display authorizations with role SAP_MDGS_DISP_03
    • This role contains all authorizations to display master data, change request, change documents, replication statuses and other information of the master data for Supplier. The role is assigned to an auditor, who is then authorized to display all information, but not to change anything.
  • Requester with role SAP_MDGS_REQ_03
    • This role contains all authorizations to create and display change requests for master data for Supplier. The role is assigned to a business user, who is then able to request changes to master data
  • Specialist with role SAP_MDGS_SPEC_03
    • This role contains all authorizations to process and approve change requests for master data for supplier.
  • Data Steward with role SAP_MDGS_STEW_04
    • This role contains all authorizations needed for special tasks that involve processing and replication of master data for supplier. The role is assigned to the user responsible for the quality of the master data. To the same user also therole "Master Data Governance for Supplier: Specialist" (SAP_MDGS_SPEC_03) should be assigned.

All the information you can also find in the configuration guide, security guide and the description of the respective role..
