Hi all,

this week, we plan to install SolutionManager 4.0 on the same system like the ERP2005.

Are there some recommends, that we should attend?

Or can you suggest us a helpful procedure?

Thanks,

Petra

Technical this is no problem so far (only on 64 Bit).

But normally I would suggest to install it together with a Development or QA System - not with the Production ERP System.

Hi Peter,

and is there any way to access to the BRTools of the SolMan?

Our manager accommodated to install the SolMan on the same system as the ERP2005. And it's running on 32 Bit.

Thanks, Petra

do not install SolMan 4.0 on 32-bit.

SolMan 4.0 is running on Netweaver 2004s and should be install on 64-bit.

See SAP note 996600 - 32 Bit platforms not recommended for productive NW2004s apps

I expect that you installed 32 bit SOLman on 32 Bit Operating system.

Each SAP System has It's own set of executables (including BR*TOOLS).

so you have to use

SOLadm to administrate SOL database and

ERPadm to administrate ERP database.

SOLadm will use \usr\sap\SOL\SYS\exe\nuc\ntintel\brbackup to administrate SOL

ERPadm will use \usr\sap\ERP\SYS\exe\nuc\ntintel\brbackup to administrate ERP

Hi Peter,

a further time, you helped us very great.

With the soladm, it's possible to connect to the BRTools of the SOLMAN.

And now, the system works very good.

By your helpful assistance, we would invitate you to a beer garden, if you are located in the area of munich.

Finally, I've one more basically question to you: We plan to upgrade our backup facilities. Currently, we use the Program Backup exec from symantec. Could you suggest us an strategy we could realize? We intend to online backups of our sap-systems.

It was a pleasure to carry out your helping instructions.

Best regards,

Petra

>>>By your helpful assistance, we would invitate you to a beer garden, if you are located in the area of munich.

yeah, this would be great!

unfortunately munich is not around the corner and 800 kilometers is more than I want to spent for it....

nevertheless: I have not experience with external backup tools, that's out of my scope. perhabs it would be a good idea to open an new thread with your question.

There are some people around here which may report you their experience...

regards

Peter
