How to detect the NWBC desktop client version at logon?

Hi,

I have a requirement to check and record the NWBC desktop client version for each user (once per logon). I have had a quick look at how to achieve this, however I don't think it will be possible based on the information that the NWBC desktop client currently sends to the server. If I look at the HTTP traffic related to the NWBC logon I can see that it sends the URL parameter nwbc_runtime_version=4.0 so I can tell that it is version 4.0, but what I really want is also the Patch Level version eg. PL13....

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Simon

I concur your findings. NWBC for Desktop passes "NetWeaverBusinessClient" in the User-Agent but no version or patch level. I don't think the NWBC ABAP runtime knows the version/patch level of the client. The client does request a specific runtime version at initialization but that's it.

Maybe something to request for the next CEI
