BW upgrade from 3.1C to NW2004 SR1

Hi,

Help!!! I'm upgrading our BW system from 3.1C to NW2004 SR1 during the Prepared Phase encountered a problem on creating a shadow instance CRTR3INST. I updated the patches for SAPUP and Kernel library.

Message from Prepare Phase:

>> 11:39:25 PREPARE: START OF PHASE SHDINST_OS

Error message CPF0006 running 'CRTR3INST SID(BQ1) INST(59) ROLE(*SHADOW)'

SAPup message

SEVERE ERROR(S) OCCURRED IN SHDINST_OS !!!

Message from the Joblog:

collectSystemInfo: found central instance DVEBMGS23 on host PCITST01 but

central instance already exists as DVEBMGS23 on host PCITST01_old.

CRTR3INST: Error retrieving system information for system BQ1.

Hi Ramon,

might be you should check/update the config files in /usr/sap/trans/config/...

Correct the values for host and ASP.

I checked and reviewed both config files they looks okay. Can someone tell me where I can find this infomation:

collectSystemInfo: found central instance DVEBMGS23 on host PCITST01 but

central instance already exists as DVEBMGS23 on host PCITST01_old.

Hi Ramon,

please check in profile directory if there are old insntance-profiles with wrong hostname.

Did you set DIR_PUT?

Hi Ramon,

I am pretty sure you have a abackup file of your instance profile in the profile directory /usr/sap/BYI/SYS/profile. Give it an extension separated by a dot or remove it. collectSystemInfo does (can) not know that PCITST01_old is not a host name.

Thanks for the help I checked one of the Instance backup file has PCITST01_old
