SAP Hana Platform supported Operating Systems moves into the market economy with RedHat

Hi All,

this one entirely passed me by, there has been a major milestone regarding supported Operating Systems for SAP Hana Platform.

After the last four years of SUSE having a monopoly over the supported Operating System for the SAP Hana Platform,

finally with SPS08, the SAP Hana Platform supported Operating System(s) has moved into the free(er) market economy.

The news is, RedHat Linux is now a supported Operating System for the SAP Hana Platform since SPS08.

More information in the SAP HANA SPS08 Release Notes here, and the OSS Note

for RedHat Support for Hana which is here.

For anybody interested the SAP HANA Platform SPS08 update guide is here.

Looking forward to more support Operating Systems in the future.

Best regards,

Andy.

Hello Andy,

Customer want to use RedHat Enterprise Linux must subscribe it, right?

Only the above thing is done, customer can get the OS iso and have privilege to update OS?

Usually, the SO is OEM'ed from the machine manufacturer.

Meaning, the SO licenses would be provided by the HW vendor.

It's rare to see a customer buying the SO standalone.

I am surprised none of the regulars ( eg: Former Member )  blogged this big news, not that I am being lazy, I can blog it, but still, surprising this big news hasn't had more headlines.

Best regards,

Andy.
