Hi All,

I recently came to know the there is Open PI adapter to convert EDIFACT messages which was developed by SOURCEFORGE.

We have a requirement to use this in our landscape

Few queries regarding Open PI Adapters

1) How to deploy those adapters and converter modules in PI?

2) What are the limitations to use this?

3) Will it be available in Licensed free version or we need to purchase?

4) What are the pre-requisites to use this?

5) What are the possible scenarios that we can develop using this?

i referred the below blog

Open PI Initiative (OPI2) - Process Integration - SCN Wiki

Anyone worked on this before? please help me

Hi Bhargava,

Doesn't look bad, but..

  • what about support?
  • what about the integration within the SAP PI/PO monitoring & alerting framework?

Also, please note the latest news is already some time ago. And I also wonder what about new versions and compliance with the market standards...

A lot of things to think about, besides the technical implementation.

The B2B add-on of SAP is a very stable and well-known product with a lot of information on this forum,

100 % integrated and performing very well...

Up to you...

Kind regards,

Dimitri

Hi Dimitri,

Thanks for the response.

This is the client requirement, since the Open PI adapter is free and SAP B2B add-on we should buy license from SAP.

so if we deploy these adapter in PI, can't we monitor in PI through CC monitoring  and sxmb_moni.?

Regards

Bhargava Krishna

Hi Bhargava,

I used to work with a third-party adapter which was not fully integrated and I currently work with an adapter, based on open standards.

They do what they have to do, but nothing more.

No new features, no flexibility, no 100 % integration.

For me, a real pity and in that case I would love to spent some money on good quality software.

I never worked with the open PI adapter, so really no idea what about integration and performance.

Kind regards,

Dimitri
